Hats just might be the only fashion accessory that men know more about than women. It's just so tricky for us females -- sometimes we want to just throw on a baseball cap like the guys, but it's not so easy. Can you wear one with a dress? What about leather pants? Should you even bother wearing one at all?

The answer is yes, you can wear a hat -- as long as it's worn correctly. A hat can be that one accessory that sets you apart, whether you're at a formal event or you're just running some errands. This fall trend is a MUST to add to anyone's closet.

DO wear a woven hat for a casual day look
DON'T over complicate the look! make it simple and a staple to your outfit!

So the latest trend that has made its way on runways, magazine covers, pinterest, and makeup enthusiasts is the one and only cat eye. This, not so new, makeup technique is called the “cat eye” because it lengthens and brightens your eyes to make them appear larger. This technique started in the 1950s with famous pin up girls and models/actresses such as Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. Just like anything in fashion, trends come back into style and everyone starts doing it.

What I really like about this trend is that it is very classy, modern and elegant. You don’t have to go to extremes with this trend, that most magazines do, but you can take it and make it your own. This technique is great for someone who has smaller eyes and wants to make their eyes appear to be larger than what they natural are. It is also good for that adventurous person that loves to try new things and who is not scared of a little change.

There are different variations of this trend, the bottom eye variation, the very think lined option and the subtle girly flared winged version, but the idea is to figure out what makes you feel most comfortable. You don’t want to walk into a party feeling self-conscious because you think your eye liner is too thick. The trick is getting the perfect line weight that is comparable to the shape of your eyes. This can be achieved with finding the right eyeliner to fit the style that you are looking for.
How do you perfect this technique? Practice makes perfect I always say. It is not easy getting this technique down on the first try. If you mess up, try again! But the end result is something you will get complimented on and have everyone coming up to you asking, “How did you do that?”

If you want to do something different and you love vintage looks, I would try this trend. It will make you stand out in the crowd and add a little pizzazz to your ensemble. Great makeup is a key to confidence and it will create the finish look to your Holiday attire.

To Get the Look:
Take the liner of your choice and make a soft line on your eyelid. From the corner of your eye, gradually draw a thin line away from your eye in an upward motion (this will start creating the “cat eye” look.) By doing this you can start making the line as thick or thin as you want it.

For a more dramatic and creative look, make the line thicker on your eye lid and gradually start making that line going away from your eye to make a triangular shape (this will also create a smokey eye effect.)

But while doing this look, always think that sometimes “less” is more. If your attire is more edgy, then go with the more dramatic look. But if you outfit is simple and elegant, I would go with a simple cat eye to give you a more natural, beautiful look that balances everything
